From the beautiful west coast to the bonny east, in the footsteps of one of Scotland’s most amazing charity campaigners: the Hope Run across Scotland is a 220-mile challenge for people of all running abilities (or even none!). A core team of 24 runners aged 14-17 will tackle the course in segments, starting in Cardross before heading cross-country to Stockbridge, near Edinburgh. You can join the core team – or support them by running, jogging or even walking one of the route stages.

The cause

Dr Graham’s Homes is a remarkable school in the Himalayas. It was established in 1900, thanks to the tireless campaigning of a Scottish missionary called John Anderson Graham. Dr Graham created it to give shelter and education to orphaned children. Today, his legacy continues through Scottish charity Dr Graham’s Homes, Kalimpong UK (DGHUK). They raise funds to enable some of India’s most vulnerable children to attend the school and receive a life-changing education.

The challenge

The Hope Run is a continuous relay, not a race. The team works together over the two days and nights, each person running for around 30 minutes before handing over to the next. A support crew and safety vehicle will be on hand to provide food, sleeping space and toileting facilities throughout the challenge.
